No heading at U6, U8, and U10
U12 ok
I have never thought passing 5 times before shooting was a good idea because no one gets anything out of it. The other team just quits.
Here are some ways to make it more difficult to score when up by 5 or more
-
Change the number of players (add a player, losing team) Subject a player, winning team.
-
Shots from outside the box
-
Only score on crosses
-
Off foot only
-
Someone who hasn’t scored a goal must score
-
Best players sit
-
Must do…( dribbling move, short-short-long, pass back)
-
I always ask the team who thinks they are the worst keeper and put them in goal after X number of goals. In this league it was 5. Competitive/travel teams it was 7,8, 9, or 10 (depending on goal differential in the league or tournament).

Tips of the trade
Common mistakes
1. Don't just "play to win". Winning is fun but players don't get any better if they are not challenged.
2. Don't always play to players strength. Challenge your players
Example: if your team uses their left (opposite) foot X number of times, they get to play their favorite game next practice.
3. Greet each player, learn something about them.
4. Note cards of practice plan
5. You are beating the other team badly change up your team.
Let the other team play with an extra player or play with a player down. I always select a player to play goalie who doesn't normally to play keeper. Switch players from offense to defense, left and right and visa verse.
6. Limit running laps, Limit standing in line. Basic stretching u8, u10, u12
7. Each player should get at least 50 (u6) 150 (u8) 200 (u10) and 300 (u12) touches on the ball each practice
8. At your parents meeting, talk about sideline behavior
9. Try to play and move, not kick and running
10. Use me as a reference
Things you need
1. Playing a defender next to the keeper
Not helping in the attack
2. Alligatoring the ball when receiving the ball
Correction
Toe up, heel down
3. Playing kids in one position

1. Basic First kid
2. Note cards (plans)
3. Pennies*
4. Cones*
5. One or two extra balls
6. Ball Pump
7. Weather app
8. Stopwatch
*Different colors not required
4. Playing only One Keeper, every game
